In February 2007 The Hairforce was one of a handful of business start-ups chosen to be personally mentored by Dame Anita Roddick, Founder of the Body Shop. This opportunity was brokered by The British Library’s Business and Intellectual Property Centre – a premier business resource which offers unique opportunities for businesses at all stages of development to learn and grow. This opportunity was brokered by The British Library’s Business and Intellectual Property Centre – a premier business resource which offers unique opportunities for businesses at all stages of development to learn and grow.

Dee Wright, Founder of The Hairforce, first met Anita when she gave a lecture at The British Library on entrepreneurialism, again organised by The British Library’s Business and IP Centre. Whilst Anita was signing a copy of her latest book ‘Business as unusual’ Dee knew she only had 15 seconds max to introduce The Hairforce. Anita’s response was ‘Go get one of my mentoring sessions on offer – I want to see you’. After a stringent application procedure the relationship was forged.

Anita has been incredibly supportive of The Hairforce, believing it to be a ‘breakthrough answer’ in this market. She has said ‘If only I could meet people like you everyday – this is an incredibly well thought out, presented and executed idea. It is a total pleasure to work with someone and something like this. I predict it will be a major success’.

Significantly Anita positions The Hairforce as ‘The most creative, relevant, and innovative business out there. This is where the future is – services people really need and that really work, rather than yet another product that disappoints and doesn’t deliver. This business is visionary and will transform family life’.

For Dee and The Hairforce the mentoring is of constant value and inspiration – an honour to access such talent, experience and generosity.

In its early days The Hairforce also benefited from one to one mentoring sessions with Tim Campbell, a former winner of The Apprentice. The Hairforce was again chosen from a large number of candidates.
